Your Smile in Sun and Showers

By Dr.Ratan Bhattacharjee | Category :: Poem

You always smile in suns and showers
Like the roses in the bowers
The lightning flash on the quivering leaves
What a beautiful shadow the banyan tree gives

When you don't smile,
I feel a creeping devouring reptile
With its secret command making the stars green
In jealousy hiding itself beneath a screen.

Your smile is like the root nourished by love
Growing into a plant reaching the sky above
I come to look for my roots and walk many a mile
I never feel tired when you throb with a sweet smile

Memories I recall, in my pulse solitude thickens
Volcanic nights wear away themselves at weekends
A river at last with its ripples begins to flow
Fresh air from the mountains begins to blow

Only when I walk a thousand of miles
To see if your face is suffused with sweet smiles
